I'm a little aggravated with the Jaycee football program. My son played this year. He put in 20 plus hours of practice, he played six games and he didn't even get a free T-shirt. They could have at least given each player a free T- shirt that said Jaycee football on it. Plus, they went to the school the other night and the school system didn't even mention their names on the field. I heard several parents complaining about this...

City to sponsor LCRA's application for grant

SIKESTON -- The city of Sikeston will sponsor the Land Clearance Redevelopment Authority's application for a Community Development Block Grant. The City Council members made their decision on the sponsorship during their regular meeting Monday. The CDBG is being sought by the LCRA to fund the demolition of the old Federal Compress building on West North Street which LCRA Chairman David Ziegenhorn described in a letter to the Council as "an eyesore and a structure that had outlived its useful life."
